2 large cucumbers, chopped
4 cups fresh spinach or kale
1 large piece of fresh ginger root (about 3-4 inches), peeled
2 whole lemons, peeled
1 bunch of fresh mint leaves
2 tsp ground turmeric (or a 2-inch piece of fresh turmeric root)
1/2 tsp black pepper (essential for absorbing turmeric)
2 cups filtered water (if using a blender)
Instructions
1. Prep the Ingredients: Thoroughly wash the cucumbers, spinach, mint leaves, ginger, and lemons. Chop them into sizes appropriate for your juicer or blender.
2. Juicing Method: If you are using a juicer, simply feed the cucumbers, spinach, ginger, lemons, and mint through the machine. Once juiced, stir in the ground turmeric and black pepper until completely dissolved.
3. Blender Method: If using a high-speed blender, place all the ingredients (including the water, ground turmeric, and black pepper) into the blender pitcher. Blend on high for 60 to 90 seconds until completely smooth.
4. Strain (Optional): If you prefer a smooth juice over a dense smoothie texture, pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh strainer, nut milk bag, or cheesecloth into a large pitcher, pressing down to extract all the liquid.
5. Store and Serve: Pour the elixir into clean glass mason jars. Serve chilled or over ice. Keep sealed jars stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days. Shake well before drinking.
