Anti-Inflammatory Highlights
Lean Ground Beef: Delivers bioavailable protein, heme iron, and essential B vitamins necessary for cellular energy and tissue repair.
Onions & Garlic: Packed with quercetin and sulfur compounds that help support liver detoxification and modulate inflammatory responses.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 cup beef broth
2 tbsp all-purpose flour (or gluten-free 1:1 flour)
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1/2 cup sliced onion for gravy (optional)
1 tbsp butter for gravy (optional)
Instructions
1. Form the Patties: In a bowl, gently combine the ground beef, chopped onion, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Shape into 4 oval patties of equal size.
2. Sear Patties: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 4–5 minutes per side until browned. Remove the patties and set aside on a plate.
3. Sauté Onions: In the same skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter (if using) and add the sliced onions. Cook for 3–4 minutes until soft and golden brown.
4. Make the Gravy: Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir continuously for 1 minute to cook out the raw flour taste. Slowly pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, whisking continuously until smooth. Bring to a simmer until the gravy thickens.
5. Simmer & Serve: Return the hamburger patties to the skillet, spooning the thick onion gravy over top. Simmer for 5 minutes until heated through. Serve warm alongside your favorite steamed vegetables or cauliflower mash!
