Ingredients
• 1 lb (500g) Ground Beef: Lean is preferred.
• 1 sheet Puff Pastry: (Thawed if frozen).
• 2 cups Shredded Cheese: (Mozzarella, Cheddar, or a blend).
• 1 small Onion: Finely chopped.
• 2 cloves Garlic: Minced.
• Seasoning: 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1 tsp paprika, and 1 tsp dried parsley.
• 1 Egg: Beaten (for the egg wash).
Preparation Method
1. Cook the Filling: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onions and garlic. Cook until the meat is no longer pink. Drain off the excess fat.
2. Season: Add salt, pepper, paprika, and dried parsley to the meat. Stir well and let the mixture cool slightly (this prevents the pastry from getting soggy).
3. Assemble: Unroll the puff pastry onto a piece of parchment paper. Spread the seasoned ground beef in an even layer over the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
4. Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the meat.
5. Roll Up: Starting from one long side, carefully roll the pastry into a tight log (like a cinnamon roll). Pinch the ends and the seam to seal it tightly.
6. Glaze: Place the roll on a baking sheet. Brush the top and sides with the beaten egg. You can score the top with a knife for a decorative look.
7. Bake: Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 20–25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and deep golden brown.
8. Serve: Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing into thick rounds. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
