Ingredients
4 cups filtered water
1 large lemon, sliced into thin rounds
1-inch piece of fresh ginger root, peeled and thinly sliced
1/2 cucumber, sliced (optional, for extra hydration)
A pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for a metabolic kick)
Ice cubes
Instructions
1. Prep the Ingredients: Thoroughly wash the lemon, ginger, and optional cucumber. Slice them thinly to allow maximum flavor and nutrient infusion.
2. Boil the Ginger (For a deeper infusion): In a small pot, bring 1 cup of the filtered water to a boil. Add the sliced ginger, reduce heat to low, and let it simmer for 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool completely.
3. Combine and Infuse: In a large pitcher, combine the remaining 3 cups of filtered water, the cooled ginger-infused water (along with the ginger slices), the lemon slices, and cucumber slices if using.
4. Chill: Stir well and place the pitcher in the refrigerator to infuse for at least 1 to 2 hours, or overnight for a stronger flavor.
5. Serve: Pour into glasses over ice, add a tiny pinch of cayenne pepper if desired, and enjoy. Keep any leftovers refrigerated and consume within 2 days.
