Cheesy Beef Puff Pastry Pockets

Ingredients

  • 1 box puff pastry, thawed (2 sheets)
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup green onions or bell peppers, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cumin (optional but amazing)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg + 1 tbsp milk (egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp oil

Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the filling

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Add onion and cook until soft.
  • Add garlic and ground beef.
  • Cook until browned and fully done.
  • Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and cumin.
  • Stir in green onions or peppers.
  • Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

2️⃣ Prepare the pastry

  • Roll out puff pastry sheets.
  • Cut each sheet into rectangles or squares.

3️⃣ Assemble

  • Place a spoonful of beef filling in the center.
  • Top with shredded cheese.
  • Fold pastry over to form pockets.
  • Press edges with a fork to seal.

4️⃣ Brush & bake

  • Place on a lined baking tray.
  • Brush tops with egg wash.
  • Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 18–22 minutes, until golden and puffed.
