No-Oven Skillet Bread (Soft & Fluffy)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (200 ml)
  • 1 tbsp dry yeast (10 g)
  • 4 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup warm milk (200 ml)
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil (60 ml)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 4½–5 cups all-purpose flour (add gradually)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Activate the yeast

  • In a large bowl, mix warm water + sugar + yeast
  • Stir and let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy

2️⃣ Make the dough

  • Add warm milk, oil, and salt
  • Mix well
  • Gradually add flour until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms

3️⃣ Knead & rise

  • Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth
  • Cover and let rise 1 hour, until doubled in size

4️⃣ Shape

  • Punch down dough
  • Divide into 2–4 large balls
  • Flatten gently into thick discs (about 1½–2 cm thick)

5️⃣ Cook on the stove (NO OVEN)

  • Heat a non-stick skillet on low heat
  • Lightly oil the pan
  • Place bread in skillet, cover with lid
  • Cook 8–10 minutes per side
  • Flip carefully when golden
  • Keep heat low so it cooks through without burning

6️⃣ Rest & serve

  • Let cool slightly on a rack
  • Slice or tear and enjoy warm ❤️
