Cheesy Bread Rolls

Ingredients (makes ~8 rolls)

For the dough

  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp instant yeast
  • ¾ cup (180 ml) warm milk
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil or melted butter

For the filling & topping

  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella (or mozzarella + cheddar mix)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • Optional: garlic powder or Italian seasoning

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Make the dough

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast
  2. Add warm milk and oil
  3. Mix until a soft dough forms
  4. Knead 5–7 minutes until smooth (or mix well with a spoon if sticky)

➡️ Cover and let rise 45–60 minutes, until doubled

2️⃣ Shape the rolls

  1. Divide dough into 8 equal balls
  2. Flatten each ball slightly
  3. Place 1–2 tablespoons cheese in the center
  4. Seal tightly and roll into smooth balls

3️⃣ Second rise

  • Place rolls seam-side down on a lined baking tray
  • Cover and rest 15–20 minutes

4️⃣ Top & bake

  1. Brush tops with melted butter
  2. Sprinkle extra cheese on top
  3. Optional: sprinkle garlic powder or herbs

Bake at 180°C / 350°F for 18–22 minutes, until golden and bubbly
