Ingredients
• 1 lb Ground beef (formed into 4 thick patties)
• 4 medium Potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
• 2 cups Baby carrots (or sliced large carrots)
• 1 packet Dry onion soup mix (this provides all the seasoning and gravy)
• Optional: A small pat of butter on each patty for extra richness.
Preparation
1. Prep the Foil: Cut 4 large squares of heavy-duty aluminum foil (or use individual foil baking tins as shown in the image).
2. Layer the Base: Place a layer of sliced potatoes and carrots in the center of each foil square.
3. Add the Meat: Place one ground beef patty directly on top of the vegetables.
4. The Flavor Secret: Sprinkle the dry onion soup mix evenly over the patties and vegetables. If you have butter on hand, place a small piece on top of the meat now.
5. Seal: Fold the foil up tightly to create a sealed pouch, ensuring no steam can escape.
6. Cook: * In the Oven: Bake at 190°C (375°F) for 35–45 minutes.
• On the Grill: Cook over medium heat for about 20–25 minutes.
7. Serve: Open the packets carefully—the steam will be very hot! The meat juices and soup mix will have created a delicious natural gravy over the tender vegetables.
