Ingredients

Strawberry Layer

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Batter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup butter, melted

  1. Prep strawberries
    Toss strawberries with sugar and cornstarch. Set aside.
  2. Cream cheese mixture
    Beat cream cheese with sugar and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Make batter
    Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    Add milk and stir until smooth.
  4. Assemble
    Pour melted butter into a greased baking dish.
    Pour batter over butter (don’t stir).
    Spoon cream cheese mixture over batter.
    Add strawberries evenly on top.
  5. Bake
    Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40–45 minutes, until golden and set.
  6. Serve
