Ingredients
For the cake batter
- 3 large eggs
- ¾ cup (150 g) sugar
- ½ cup (120 ml) milk
- ½ cup (115 g) melted butter (warm, not hot)
- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
For the creamy filling
- 1½ cups (350 g) cream cheese or ricotta (room temperature)
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
For topping
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat oven
- Set oven to 350°F (180°C)
- Grease or line a 9-inch (23 cm) round pan
2️⃣ Make the batter
- Beat eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy
- Add melted butter, milk, and vanilla
- Mix in flour, baking powder, and salt until smooth
3️⃣ Prepare the cream layer
- In a separate bowl, mix cream cheese (or ricotta) with powdered sugar until smooth and creamy
4️⃣ Assemble
- Pour ½ of the batter into the pan
- Spoon the cream mixture evenly over it
- Gently pour the remaining batter on top (don’t mix)
5️⃣ Bake
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, until golden on top and slightly jiggly in the center
6️⃣ Cool & serve
- Let cool at least 20 minutes
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving
