Easy No-Knead Flatbread

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour or all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water (not hot)
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar or sweetener (optional, helps yeast)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional, makes bread softer)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Activate the Yeast

  • In a bowl, add warm water + sugar + yeast
  • Mix gently and let sit 5–10 minutes
  • It should become foamy (this means yeast is active)

2️⃣ Make the Dough (No Kneading!)

  • Add flour, salt, olive oil to the yeast mixture
  • Mix with a spoon until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms
  • ❌ Do NOT knead

3️⃣ First Rise

  • Cover the bowl
  • Let rest in a warm place 45–60 minutes
  • Dough should double in size

4️⃣ Shape the Bread

  • Lightly flour your hands
  • Divide dough into 8–10 balls
  • Flatten each ball into a round (about ½ cm thick)

5️⃣ Second Rest

  • Place rounds on parchment paper or tray
  • Cover and rest 15 minutes

🔥 Cooking Options

🟡 OPTION 1: Pan (Most Common)

  • Heat a dry non-stick pan on medium
  • Cook each bread 2–3 minutes per side
  • Flip when bubbles appear
  • Light golden spots = perfect

🟡 OPTION 2: Oven

  • Preheat oven to 220°C / 430°F
  • Bake 8–10 minutes
  • Optional: broil 1–2 minutes for color
