Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour or all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water (not hot)
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar or sweetener (optional, helps yeast)
- 1 tbsp olive oil (optional, makes bread softer)
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Activate the Yeast
- In a bowl, add warm water + sugar + yeast
- Mix gently and let sit 5–10 minutes
- It should become foamy (this means yeast is active)
2️⃣ Make the Dough (No Kneading!)
- Add flour, salt, olive oil to the yeast mixture
- Mix with a spoon until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms
- ❌ Do NOT knead
3️⃣ First Rise
- Cover the bowl
- Let rest in a warm place 45–60 minutes
- Dough should double in size
4️⃣ Shape the Bread
- Lightly flour your hands
- Divide dough into 8–10 balls
- Flatten each ball into a round (about ½ cm thick)
5️⃣ Second Rest
- Place rounds on parchment paper or tray
- Cover and rest 15 minutes
🔥 Cooking Options
🟡 OPTION 1: Pan (Most Common)
- Heat a dry non-stick pan on medium
- Cook each bread 2–3 minutes per side
- Flip when bubbles appear
- Light golden spots = perfect
🟡 OPTION 2: Oven
- Preheat oven to 220°C / 430°F
- Bake 8–10 minutes
- Optional: broil 1–2 minutes for color
