Cheesy Baked Cabbage Rolls

Ingredients

For the cabbage

• 1 large green cabbage

• Water + salt (for boiling)

For the filling

• 1 lb (450 g) ground meat (beef, chicken, or turkey)

• 1 small onion, finely chopped

• 2 cloves garlic, minced

• 1 egg

• ½ cup cooked rice (optional but traditional)

• Salt & black pepper, to taste

• 1 tsp paprika

• 1 tsp dried parsley or Italian seasoning

For the topping

• 1½ cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar

• ½ cup tomato sauce (optional but recommended)

• Olive oil or butter for greasing

1️⃣ Prepare the cabbage

• Remove the core from the cabbage.

• Boil the whole cabbage in salted water 10–12 minutes, gently removing leaves as they soften.

• Drain and let cool.

2️⃣ Make the filling

• In a bowl, combine:

• Ground meat

• Onion

• Garlic

• Egg

• Rice (if using)

• Salt, pepper, paprika, herbs

• Mix well until combined.

3️⃣ Assemble the rolls

• Place filling on each cabbage leaf.
