Mexican Tostadas de Carne Asada
Tostadas de Carne Asada are a delicious, crispy dish topped with grilled beef, fresh veggies, and a variety of toppings. They are perfect for a quick meal or a fun taco night.
Ingredients:
For the Carne Asada:
1 lb flank steak or skirt steak
1/4 cup lime juice
2 tbsp orange juice
2 tbsp olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped (optional)
For the Tostadas:
8 tostada shells (store-bought or homemade)
1 cup refried beans (optional, for spreading)
1/2 cup lettuce, shredded
1/4 cup radishes, thinly sliced
1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
1/2 cup diced tomatoes
1/4 cup avocado, sliced
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
Salsa (for topping, optional)
Lime wedges for garnish
Instructions:
- Marinate the Carne Asada:
In a bowl, combine the lime juice, orange juice, olive oil, garlic, soy sauce, cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Whisk well to combine.
Place the flank steak in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag, pour the marinade over it, and coat the steak evenly. Marinate for at least 1 hour (or up to 4 hours) in the refrigerator. - Grill the Carne Asada:
Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, remove the steak from the marinade and grill for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness (about 135°F for medium-rare).
Once grilled, remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it against the grain into thin strips. - Prepare the Tostadas:
If using store-bought tostada shells, warm them in the oven for a few minutes to make them extra crispy.
(Optional) Spread a thin layer of refried beans on each tostada shell for added flavor and texture. - Assemble the Tostadas:
Start by spreading a thin layer of refried beans (if using) on each tostada shell.
Add a generous portion of the sliced carne asada on top of the beans.
Top with shredded lettuce, radish slices, red onion, diced tomatoes, avocado slices, and fresh cilantro.
Drizzle sour cream and salsa over the top, if desired, for extra flavor. - Serve:
Serve the tostadas immediately, with lime wedges on the side for extra zest.
Tips:
If you prefer homemade tostadas, simply fry corn tortillas in hot oil until crispy and golden. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
Customize the toppings based on your preferences, such as adding cheese, pickled jalapeños, or crema.
Enjoy your Tostadas de Carne Asada! 🌮🍽
