Crispy Fried Mushrooms
Ingredients:
1 lb button or cremini mushrooms, cleaned and stems trimmed
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 large eggs
1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko for extra crunch)
Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
Instructions:
Prepare the Mushrooms:
Pat mushrooms dry with a paper towel to ensure the coating sticks well.
Set Up the Coating Stations:
In a shallow bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
In a separate bowl, beat the eggs.
In a third bowl, place the breadcrumbs.
Coat the Mushrooms:
First, dredge each mushroom in the seasoned flour, shaking off any excess.
Dip it in the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off.
Finally, roll the mushroom in the breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to ensure an even coating.
Heat the Oil:
Heat about 1-2 inches of oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Mushrooms:
Carefully place a few mushrooms at a time into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
Fry for 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally for even cooking.
Use a slotted spoon to remove the mushrooms from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
Serve:
Sprinkle the fried mushrooms with a little extra salt while still hot, if desired.
Serve with cool ranch dip or any other favorite dipping sauce.
These Crispy Fried Mushrooms are so flavorful and have a great crunch—perfect for a quick snack or appetizer!
